Whirly Ball is actually a lot of fun.  The place where its at feels and smells like a rundown old YMCA, but once you get past that its not so bad.  The game is a combination of bumper cars, lacrosse and basketball.  I actually felt like I was playing basketball in a wheel chair.  It’s kinda funny now that I get a mental image of it.  We all had a good time and no one got seriously injured (bummer… workman’s comp).  I thought it might be a fun bday idea, but its $150 an hour for a court.  Probably won’t be playing again any time soon unless its on the company dime.

I know it isn’t officially Fall yet, but today was a nice preview.  I think the cooler temperatures and wind are both attributable to Gustav, but I still enjoyed them.  Fall is hands down my favorite season.  Its got my birthday, college football season, my birthday, Halloween, my birthday, perfect weather, my birthday, beautiful foliage, my birthday.  Need I say more?  I think the next four months are my favorite time of year.  And the weather today was a little sneak peak into that.

Even though work has been crazy this week, I still managed to be in a good mood all day.  Today is my off day from the gym so I slept in, dressed myself in new clothes I purchased over the weekend, stopped at Starbucks for a cup, saw a man shaving in his car on the drive to work, enjoyed my delicious tea at work, shot rubber bands at coworkers, discussed life and relationships with said coworkers, ran by my alterations lady to get some new jeans taken up and I think I made her day…she’s always so happy to see me.  Its really the simple things.  When the simple things make you happy, you know life is good.

Now that I am finally home, I’m going to settle in and watch Sarah Palin speak.  I’m not much into politics, but I’m very curious to hear her and see what she’s all about.  I need to get myself educated on all the facts.  I owe it to America.

As I mentioned, work has been crazy.  I’m going to go ahead and consider that job security.  I pondered the idea of filling my canteen up with wine tomorrow, in order to maintain a nice buzz throughout the day.  I figured… work is so busy, there is so much for me to do, how on Earth would they fire me for sipping a little vino at the office?  I mean, they wouldn’t be able to survive without me at the moment.  But, I think I’ll be rational and just have a glass tonight and call it even.  I got a Tempranillo at Whole Foods last week, because it was on sale and had a sweet looking label.  I’m gonna go ahead and say it ranks right up there with Rosemont Shiraz, my favorite.  Might have to go back to WF and stock up.

Tomorrow, we have a Whirly Ball outing to send our India folks off.  They’ve been with us for 4 months learning how to do the basics of what we do.  Not sure what Whirly Ball is all about, but there is booze being served so I’ll be ok.  Bottom’s up…

Ahhh yes, tonight was the premiere of the new 90210.  I am not going to lie.  I was really excited.  The original Beverly Hills 90210 definitely ranks in my top 10 favorite television shows ever.  And so why wouldn’t I be excited that they were going to bring it back?  Of course there are new characters, but Kelly, Brenda, and Nat are still there.  Even Andrea’s daughter is the host of the school news.  And to add icing to the cake, Aunt Becky from Full House is on the show.  Whats not to love?  The only drawbacks are that a) it doesn’t have all the original characters b) its got a more WB/Dawson’s Creek feel to it and c) its on at the same time as Biggest Loser.  But, because of Tivo, I will survive.

Clearly its not going to be as good as the original.  But, since I’m a sucker for drama, especially that which takes place in California, I’m sure I’ll get hooked soon.   Its definitely more promising than ‘Saved By The Bell: The New Class’ was.  Definitely.
